Frequently Asked Questions

What is Integrative Psychiatry?

Integrative psychiatry is a holistic approach to mental health that combines traditional psychiatric treatments with complementary and alternative therapies. This model takes into account the interconnectedness of the mind, body, and spirit, acknowledging that each individual is unique and may benefit from a personalized combination of treatments. By incorporating elements such as nutrition, exercise, mindfulness, and psychotherapy alongside medication management, integrative psychiatry aims to address the root causes of mental health issues and promote overall well-being. This approach emphasizes patient-centered care and empowers individuals to take an active role in their healing journey.

Can you prescribe medications?

Yes. We are Board-Certified Psychiatric Nurse Practitioners and licensed to prescribe medications for our clients. We use escribe to send your medication orders to your pharmacy. While our services are private pay, you may still use your insurance to cover the cost of your prescriptions through your pharmacy.

Do you take insurance?

Yes. We accept most commercial insurances. We also offer private pay options. Private pay services refer to healthcare services that are paid for out-of-pocket by individuals directly, rather than through insurance or government programs. This option allows individuals to access a variety of services without the restrictions and limitations often imposed by insurance companies. Private pay services offer a sense of flexibility and control over one's healthcare choices, enabling individuals to seek specific treatments or providers based on personal preferences and needs. While the cost may be higher compared to insurance-covered services, private pay can provide quicker access to care and potentially more tailored and personalized treatment options.

Can I file your services with my insurance company?

If we are not in network, you can pay out-of-pocket and we provide a detailed receipt. This allows you to submit the charges with your insurance company for partial or full reimbursement.

Will I see my provider in person?

We offer in-person and tele-psych appointments. Your first session (initial/intake) will be in-person, and then you may choose to have your follow-ups in-person or via tele-psych.

What is tele-psych, and how does it work?

Tele-psych, also known as telemedicine, is the practice of providing healthcare remotely through technology, such as video calls or messaging. This innovative approach has gained popularity due to its convenience and accessibility. Patients can consult with healthcare providers, receive medical advice, and even obtain prescriptions without leaving their homes. Prior to your appointment, you will receive a link to a secure video call platform (like zoom). You can access the link through you home computer, or even from your phone.

What do I do if I have an emergency/crisis situation?

We try our best to return calls/emails by the end of the day, but if you are in an emergency/crisis situation then we strongly encourage you to call 911, or go to your nearest crisis center or emergency department.
